Chawton in Columbus: Columbus Reading Group

Upcoming Meetings:

 Our next Chawton in Columbus meeting will be Sunday, August 16, at 1:30 PM at the Northern Lights Library (Meeting Room 1), 4093 Cleveland Avenue. 

We're planning to play JA-themed games.  You're welcome to bring your favorites.
 Liz inspired us (Sherry gets credit for this!).  Liz is trying to downsize and plans to bring some of her JA stuff to GIVE AWAY! at our next meeting.  So we're going to hold a “Chawton in Columbus Carriage House (not Garage) Sale.”  You are welcome to bring JA things to give away (or sell) to fellow members.   If you want to sell things, the prices should be no more than $5 or $10.

Here is an early look at where we find Jane in modern day: from Bertie's Theory of Ice Cream by Alexander McCall Smith.  7-year-old Bertie‘s nemeses, classmates Olive and Pansy formed a book club in which Bertie was the only boy allowed (required) to attend. The book club topic was Pride and Prejudice.  Bertie said he had not read the book, but the girls commented no one reads the books assigned for book clubs, anyway.

For those of you who take 71 to get to the Northern Lights Library, because Cooke Road is closed, turn left at Karl Road, then make a right on Ferris Avenue.  Turn left at any of the side streets and go down to Lehner Road.  Follow it almost to Cleveland Avenue and turn left to get to the library.  (If these directions are too confusing, just let your phone map app guide you.  It knows Cooke Road is closed.)

We’ll have hot water, a variety of teas, cups, plates and napkins.  You are welcome to bring food to share with others if you wish.
