Jane in Color: Celebrating 250 Years of Jane Austen on Decmeber 16, 2025 at the Downtown Main Library of the Cincinnati Public Library
Celebrate the legacy of Jane Austen with this special event marking her 250th birthday! Local literature professor and founder of Black Girls Love Jane, Damianne Scott, will be our featured guest. Her presentation, "Jane in Color: How Austen's 250th Birthday Welcome Diversity", which will challenge Lovers of Austen to be more open-minded about the relatability of Austen to People of Color by discussing the challenges and strides that have been made to welcome more diversity into the Janehood. The evening will conclude with an exclusive look at original copies of Austen's novels and other essential Regency-era texts from CHPL's rare book collection. Registration is required.
